HEVRA Packages

HEVRA was setup to help garages get into hybrid and electric car repairs. We support our members with technical support, advice and marketing. We've now made it easier to join us by offering packages, including the tools and the training.

How it works

To become a HEVRA member garage you need to meet certain criteria in terms of tools and equipment, and in terms of training. Packages are designed to make his easier.

Step one- basic equipment

Firstly, you will need everything on this list. Most of it you will probably have anyway:

  • Diagnostic equipment with recent software
  • R134a air conditioning machine with hose flushing facility or hybrid vehicle function
  • Non-magnetic workbench, for example wooden bench or plastic tool trolley.
  • Brake fluid tester
  • Electric vehicle charging point OR normal 3-pin electrical socket
  • 4-post lift, 2-post lift, scissor lift or inspection pit
  • Internet access
  • Access to vehicle repair information, such as Autodata, Haynes Pro, etc
  • A system that allows customer invoices to be looked up at a later date (e.g. computerised invoicing system)

Step two- specialist equipment

You'll also need some specialist gear- you may or may not have this:

  • Manual oil injector for air conditioning systems
  • Class 0 insulated electrical gloves
  • Multimeter (and leads) meeting CAT III 600V specification.

Step three- training requirement

You will need at least one person to hold a qualification in Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Service and Repair meeting National Level 2 standard (e.g. IMI Level 2).

Step four- decide on a package

If you already have everything described above, you don't need a package, you can sign up straight away- contact membership@hevra.org.uk

All of our packages include a year's HEVRA membership, meaning you will be listed on our professional register, as well as getting technical and marketing help and general advice.

When you buy a package, we will book you on a training course that suits you, and you will receive the equipment when you attend the course. Training is intended for those who are competent and experienced in working on modern combustion engined vehicles.

If you prefer, packages are also available to buy in our eBay Shop.
